What's new

If your Dolphin isn't getting better than 10fps, read this:

This is a suggestion as a new person to these forums, but if I read this data right, getting under 10fps for games is normal and unavoidable.

So the only reason to download the emulator at this point is to go "ooh, ahh, it's purdy", not to play games. If this is in fact the case, why not make a sticky post saying as much instead of letting noob after noob ask the same question, get mad at them and complain how they didn't read the rules?

I for one read the rules, read the one about not asking why it was slow and still thought there was something wrong with my settings because I assumed that SOMEONE could play games. If I'm right that no one can, it explains a lot.

Anyway, I hope that's helpful.

That's a fine suggestion and all, but the fact of the matter is that there is ALREADY a stickied FAQ thread explaining things.

You'd think people read stickies. Isn't reality fun?

I could do a whole rant on how horrible reality is, and how to see through it... But most of you are either adults, or have a clinically certified IQ over 125, and already know what I know. thats the beauty of emutalk. I appreciate people who try to be different and look deeper, or looking out of the box.

What does my schpeel have to do with the Dolphin? Not much, but GC emulation is not about the fun. I have learned so much about emulation, CPUs, and how games work, just by doing GC emulation. You just have to get into it.

no point to emulation?

So what your saying is that the Emulator Labeled Dolphin was in fact never intended to actually play GC games? Did I indeed read this post correctly. Im not going to lie im a bit of a noob when it comes to GC emulation so I really have no clue how the Dolphin works really. I just found it thought it was intresting and downloaded thinking it worked. Now that ive booted it up and what not, I get like 6 FPS but as I've been reading in this forum there are many people that get good FPS's with no better PC's that I have. So what I'm asking is, can I indeed improve my FPS for gameplay? or is the peice of code dolphin trashable due to it not being meant to play?

I must have missed all the threads where people got 'good FPS' speeds. (By "good", I assume you mean substantially closer to playable.) In any 3D game, with a decent PC, you can currently expect somewhere around 6fps - probably never spiking above 12 or so. One of the few exceptions is Bust-a-Move 3000, which is not 3D and can be emulated at full speed.
