i need help running dc games on emulator

ok i found this emulator about a week ago on the net and i thought id give it ago since i ave a few dc games lyin around my room and my busted up dreamcast is sitting collecting dust but i cant get them to run no matter what i do i was wondering if someone could help me.

id really appreciate if someone could and tell me what im doing wrong.

First of all you should check a thread named "Chankast FAQ" and be sure to read the manual that comes with the emulator.
If you still have problems after that then describe the exact problem or else we won't be able to help you.

to cut a long story short if you cant be bothered

Dont try to run your DC games directly in the pc, it blatantly wont work, you will need to get your DC working and get a coders cable or broadband adaptor and make images on your pc out of the games to use them.

you will also need to extract the bios from your DC too, which again needs the cable, but im guessing at least the bios works, so at least youll be able to run that on the emulator

so your saying i cant play a dc cd with this emulator at all? my dc is completly screwed and i dont have any of those tools u said so its impossible for me to play a normal dc game with this emulator? if there is anyway please help me. i just want to know how to directly run a dc cd with this emulator if it is possible and i do have a dc bios btw

we cant u talk about is it illegal? please help me out and what sticky should i look at? also would it be possible to make a bootdisc that would allow me to play dc games with this emulator?

you can not play original gd-roms on a pc-drive, it can not read gd-roms. you need "backup"-games, as image or burned on cd-rom. read ALL stickys.

for VMS.BIN if i recall, you just make a blank file with that name, load the emulator without a cd image so it goes into the bios, and it should show one memory card, just format it.

you must enable vms in plugins-config, then you must boot without game to format a vms in dreamcast-file-menu.

ok another question is there a special step im missing throwing info at me im new to the iso world need detail thats not to much.





also i get the roms to work can't save tho....alsothe iso laggs like the speak is offframe rate slows in movies any anwsers on why

ok thanks man problem solved, but now a new problem my m Vs C 2 is laggin like a slow frame rate it stiops for every little frame. what can i do to fix it or should i find a new one

you pretty much have to burn a copy,of the data on your cpu burn to a CD then copy file to you cpu...unless you can burn it directly to you cpu.

Loading save files

Hei i'm also new to chankast and i was wondering if anyone could help me on loading save files that u get at gamefaqs. I've formatted the vms.bin file but after i've imported one of the saves when i start the game the saves aren't recognized and a new save is created.

I'd appreciate any help on this

you pretty much have to burn a copy,of the data on your cpu burn to a CD then copy file to you cpu...unless you can burn it directly to you cpu.

what do u mean by burn it to the cpu? dont u mean the harddrive? and if u can burn a dc game to the hardrive how do u do this? please tell me id really appreciate it thanks in advance
