Okay, I have the newest version of chankast, I have daemon tools, I have gamesxcopy, and I have full retail versions of all the games I wanna play on the emulator (both of my dreamcasts burned out thanks to crappy controllers). I've tried running the games straight off the cd, I've tried ripping them with gamesxcopy and then mounting them with deamon tools, but all that ever happens is "Please insert game disc." All the games I've tried are already on the list of verified games that work. I've tried as many different settings as I can think of, still it thinks there's no game disc.. Also, I don't know if this is normal or not.. but when I put a game disc into my cd-rom drive, it doesn't have any real files or anything.. all it shows for PSO is some desktops and a few small text files.. This could be why it doesn't work when I rip it, but I really don't know.. whatever the problem is, somebody please help in a way other than giving a link to google.

Sounds to me like you're using original retail copies of games. Since the originals used a format called GD-ROM, no pc cd/dvd drive can read those discs. Only back up copies of games on cdr or cd image files mounted with daemon tools (be sure to use version 3.29) will work. Since you say your DC is burned out, then I won't even suggest trying to use a coders cable to back up your games with your DC. You'll have to find a way to acquire some back ups. As for those pictures and text files, those are extras placed on the disc by the manufacturer and are intentionally put there as hidden goodies, but you will not be able to access the game data since it is in an area of the disc that is recorded in a higher density than a standard cd.

Okay.. so is there any way to make a backup using the original retail versions? Or do I have to look online for them somewhere? The only thing that's burned out about one of my DC is the controller port, would it be possible to use a coders cable to make a backup still? I'm not sure what's wrong with my other DC but I could find out..

Look it up on the net, you can't ask how to make back-ups of any games on this forum.

I'm not allowed to ask how to make a backup of a game I payed for? That's odd.
