How do I know if my rom is compatible?

sounds like a dumb question...if its compatible it works and if it isn't it doesn't work right?

but Yoshi's story starts out fine. it plays everything fine....but when I start to move? the left half of my screen starts doing this weird blinking thing....I can still kinda see whats going on, but not really enough to play it well. when i stop moving, it stops blinking.

so i want to know if the game is incompatible and i need to get a new one or if there is some other solution.

oh, a little side note cause i know someone will ask:

Processor is AMD Sempron Processor 3400+ MMX 3DNOW, ~2.0 GHZ

Memory is 382 MB RAM

Device name is NVIDIA GeForce 6100

I don't know what any of this stuff means. please help. :(

I know a solution: use a different video plugin. Glide64 should work perfect for you, download it, enable "hardware framebuffer emulation" and there should be no problems. Project64 itself is compatible for the game, its just the video plugin doesnt work correctly with it.

I have different problems with the same game:

I crash everytime I go to the second area of a level with more than one area.
I use the Glide64 Wonder Plus video plugin with wrapper, Jabo's DirectSound 1.6 audio plugin, and N-Rage's DirectInput8 V2 1.80a input plugin.

I don't know if the other plugins other than the video one will crash it when I go to a different area.

[Edit]o_0 How'd this second one get posted?

thank you Clements for fixing my post for me.

eh....i guess i must be either really technically challenged or kinda stupid, but i downloaded the glide 64 and my computer won't open it. so i guess i just won't play yoshi.....that seems easier.

Glide64 doesn't work if you don't have a wrapper (Glide3x.dll) in the emulator folder. Of course, if you have a video card that uses Glide (like the old Voodoo line of cards, which I doubt) then you don't need a wrapper.

For Yoshi's Story, I recommend Jabo's Direct3D SIX (not 8). A bit slower with emulating the game, but it fixes the page flip issue on my screen.
