Homemade adaptoid like device

The adaptoid looks pretty compact to be able to hold anything than maybe a couple resistors in it. I was curious if anyone knows how to (or if it is even possible) to hack the cord and put on a usb cable?

Heres a tutorial on how to do it. I havent done it myself. I just stumpled upon this last night, im gonna give it a shot next week when i have some free time.
