Hai all. I need help with installing the ROMs. I downloaded GoodN64, and GoodWindows, and i have the bin.zip and zlib.dll too. when i run GoodWindows, i select N64 for the system, click generate, and the list of stuff appears (2477 ROMs). now for the directory to work on, i just put everything i dled in the same folder as project 64. so im workin on that directory... when i click execute i get this:

"You are missing 1669 of 1669 known Nintendo 64 (0.999.9a BETA) ROMS (808 excluded)"

so... what the fu*k do i do?

tbh i dont know if this forum is alive but i need some help so plz reply.

edit - uh yea i was jw from what file do the ROMs come from and where do i put them?

HELP IM A NOOB

The directory to work on is whichever directory your roms are in. I gather you think GoodN64 "installs" roms for you? No. You have to download them yourself, which means you need to search. GoodN64 is for verification and renaming only.

Don't ask for rom download sites.

Search the boards and you'll find numerous, long-winded discussions on the subject. It's been covered ad nauseam.

Short answer: Administrator prerogative.

You were told not to ask how to get roms, there are no ways around the issue..
Sorry but you left me no choice :(

I don't know about banning someone as innocently clueless as that... I mean he was talking about how roms are created and purchasing them legally (he didn't know Nintendo doesn't do that)... I mean if you're interested in N64 emulation and you want details about how to extract roms from your N64 carts and any legal issues involved then he shouldn't just be banned for good... and I just reread it and all he said was "where do roms come from and where do I put them?" and "can I purchase roms, if so from where? And are they cheap?"

If think i got it right, this site is about emulation, not roms in particular. Is obvious to see that the user in question wasn't interested in details about dumping or else, he wanted GoodN64 to 'generate' some roms for him, which is actually kind of sad :(

I don't know... I mean his main question was "how do I play roms?" Let's say you didn't know anything about emulation and someone told you that there are N64 emulators that let you play N64 games on your computer and you have this feint idea that you need roms to play the games. So you log in to the emulation web site and you're like, "how does N64 emulation work? Where do the roms come from and where do you put them? Can you buy roms from ebay or somewhere?" Sure he could have researched it first and read the FAQ, but maybe he was excited and wanted some help on how to get started. Asking about specific web sites to download roms isn't cool, but just being a newbie and being interested in how N64 emulation works doesn't seem like some huge violation.

it's o.k, he's not permanently banned, just long enough for him not to ask how to get them, i mean he started with a "why cant i ask?" and then tries other methods of finding out how to aquire roms, put simply it's against the forums rules, or atleast it was :p .. and before you think i am trigger happy, let me inform you that he's the first person i have ever banned, and even that is temporary.. so fnar fnar

90 days? That is some temp ban!
hehe, i know, i tried to lower it to seven days straight after i set it and had time to think about it, but alas we can't alter it once done.. mind you it was funny seeing some of the other people that have been banned permanently that once were quite helpful on the board..still, i'll try not to let it spoil my tea :cowboy:
*edit* damn, it's been a while since i was last here, those are not my computer specs anymore, my laptop's got better specs than that..
