well, i'm stumped. the only thing i can think of doing is just update the sound card drivers if you can. also, you could run dxdiag and see if there is any conflicts.

WTF, that isn't right.
I have an onboard audio, and it plays mp3 sweet as the original, the sound on the emulator just as good as in reality, etc, etc...
There's nothing wrong in onboard sound.

I also have onboard sound, and it occasionally skips, all it does is eat up system RAM, but if you have more than about 128mb it should be working fine..

the probs with onboard sound is "THEY ARE NOT ALL EQUAL", and of course that means, that some of them somewhere TOTALLY SUCK. also it does eat up system ram too, afaik. but yeah, there ARE good onboard sound cards (i've got one in one of my machines, too), but i'd say the ratio is less than 1:3.

I prey, not pray.
I would have to agree. While some motherboard mfrs include better sound chipsets built in, most mfrs make their own sound chipsets, and the majority of them have very cheap, crap sounding DACs. Especialy the via chipset soundcards. This all depends on how anal you are about sound quality though, if 128kbps mp3 sounds as good as a CD to you, then probably any old sound card will suffice.

What's that...?
i have onboard sound on my computer at home, and never thought it was too bad. i had a stereo hooked up to it that i used to listen to all my mp3's with, and i always thought the quality was pretty good. But then i got a new computer when i went away to school, and i put a sb audigy in it. well, i went home this pas weekend, and was listening to music on my home computer again, and i realized what a huge difference there was between the audigy and the onboard. damn!! i guess there really are big difference...just thought id share that story with all of you

Who needs better quality than about 64 kbps? 128 kbps at most. More would be a waste of space :sleepy:

Garboy, I know that NOLF2 (full game) has had a patch released to fix some intermittent sound problems experienced by some users. So it stands to reason that the demo is also affected by this problem.
