Help me!!!! oh my god

When Im playing the games on the pj64 it all works fine and when I save and load states WHILST the pj64 is in play, but if I save on a game, close it and come back the next day it seems to have completely wiped the save data and I have to start all over again, does anyone do whats wrong/what to do???

maybe someone is sneaking in during the night and deleting your saves.
yeah, that's my best guess right now.
