goldeneye graphics

When I run goldeneye, the graphics are really bad when I get near a vehicle. On dam, when I get near the truck, doors don't work right and graphics mess up. Green covers the floor and goes waist up. What's up?

PLus sound is off. The action happens then the sound comes in 2 seconds late

It could be a number of things.
1) Your PC or Graphics card may not be enough to run game.
2) You might be using old plugins.
3) Could be bad rom (Good Windows it)
4) Need to update drivers.

Could be just a clipping issue. People are so used to PC games that they forget that they are playing the N64 that had its fair share of issues.

On the real game you can crouch and get into the truck causing all manner of glitches such as the truck disappearing/becoming see-through.

I have the game but I don't remember it doing all that stuff. Will 1964 solve this problem?

Probably not- but changing the graphics plugin could affect it though. (I'd use 1964 for Goldeneye anyway unless your processor is faster than mine BTW).

Problem is, Goldeneye is such a tough game to emulate that many plugins are slow. I'd try Rice's Daedalus first and see if it's as bad.

If you can post some screenshots (using Alt+PrrtScn in Windowed so we can see all the info, paste into Paint and save as jpeg then attach) it would be helpful. Also, some specs info would be helpful with your other probs.

most of the time, in most of my games, the grahpics are fuzzy in menus and pause screens. Especially the background.*see pic

this is my problem I have been having *see pic2

add specs of my comp to profile

Firstly, your specs are completely fine and you should have no real probs with PJ64 + Goldeneye.

OK, there is little you can do about menus/picture fuzziness, but you can improve it by checking 'Force Filtered Rendering' if you haven't already (can't tell from the shot if you have done this) and decreasing the resolution improves it too. 640x480x32 is the recommended in the manual, so I'll say this is a good choice if you want this fixed.

The second shot is harder to make out, looks like a clipping issue. Jabo's is a little bad at this and can often produce stuff like this if you move close to other objects. I don't know what you can do to solve it with Jabo's plugin... I hope someone else has an idea!

Because I don't have that problem with my Radeon 9000 Pro video card, you probably have a Catalyst driver problem. Which Catalyst driver version are you using? I'm using Catalyst 3.7.

jeez! Godeneye looks better on my ProSavsage! I've never seen these glitches! What the heck is up with this? Well, can someone tell me how to use the "secret island" cheat on pj64? I've used it on my N64, but that was years ago. I'm really confused and just want to check out that freaky place again. Did you guys know that it was originally planned that you would ride a boat to that area and do more missions, right? You probably do, but for those "other" people, I just wanted to clear it up.

Gee wiz, yes, the GFX are worse now :(. It looks like it's time to reformat the HDD,
reinstall Windows XP then install the software in the following order:

*THE ORDER IS MAJORLY IMPORTANT*

*INSTALL THE SOFTWARE NOT IN THIS EXACT ORDER, THEN YOU'RE REQUIRED TO REFORMAT THE HDD AND REINSTALL WINDOWS XP AGAIN!!!*

1. Service Pack 1 (IF WINDOWS XP DON'T INCLUDE SERVICE PACK1)

2. The chipset drivers

3. DirectX 9

4. Catalyst drivers

5. ATI Control Panel

6. Now, at step 6, it's OK to install other software.

kie-san, before you do anything *drastic* and potentially *unneccessary* such as reformating - is there anywhere you could upload a savestate of this bug so I can check it out for you?

I'm erring towards the game having become slightly corrupted via using save states.

Speaking of Goldeneye glitches- what was really freaky one time with my real Goldeneye cart: I was using many of the in-game cheats at once in the Surface 1 level and just spent a long time on it killing stuff.

Eventually (I had All guns on BTW as well as many others) the icons for the mines and grenades turned to white static, and when I activated the alarm at the bunker, a guard had 4 faces (one face texture for each side of his head) and another had no face but a blue strip across his blank face appeared.

Also the mines messed up so that the texture changed to a similar texture to the surface it had landed on (throwing a mine on an explosive barrel turned to the skull symbol on the barrel for example). I could reproduce this very often on my real cart.

Perhaps I'll try reproducing it on an emulator one day and if it works take some shots. Sorry for being off-topic...

savestate? WHat do u want by this?

THis problem is only occuring to goldeneye. THe only other problem I have , which is only on a few games, is that the frame rate is too high soo that everything moves 3x as fast

It has to be a bad rom, and to save the state just press F5, then look in your save folder for the zip file of the save game.

All I wanted was for a savestate (as Mystic Gohan above me has said) by pressing F5. Find the file, then upload it somewhere for me to download.

I could then reload the game from the exact point you are. This would then enable me to see whether the problems you are having are machine related (drivers) or game related.
