Hi... I downloaded a copy of G1GAW1NG using a torrent from the INTERNET about 2 weeks ago... when i try to run it on chankast 0.25 it boots but the screen freezes on the "SEGA" logo, the frames x seconds stills move but the game doesn't go on... I'm asking this because in the compatibility list says that this game works, maybe the file came with a bad 1st_read file, I don't know, I'm just wondering.. or it's just that this game really doesn't work.. :)

Edit your post or else you might get ban. 1ST_READ.BIN are illegal, I think.

Hey , I edited it but I've seen people posting link to thing like 1st_read/ip bins, to unpatch games, or make them work/boot, or maybe i'm just alucinating that i've seen this :)

Well, it doesn't matter, any help would be aprecciated.

Actually those are patches to make one file change to the other. They are not giving each the file directly. I could be wrong. Why don't you try the old version of Chankast?

I'd remove the link to that site too, since it has "warez" on it. :) Oh and the bit about how you got the game...

Sorry sethmcdoogle, I removed the link to the site too, hey I put it cause maybe somebody get it from the same place and find a way to make it work, just in case that my copy could be some kind of corrupted or unreadable, although i tried to copy all the files to the hard and it goes fine with any erros, all the files get copied, but you're right :p, actually I own that game and my good old dusty dreamcast and 17 other dreamcast original games :), but I read somewhere that the computers cannot read those discs for some kind of thechnical structural problem on the discs, and that you need a special cable to do the job, but I think that I don't have the skill or knowlegde to make one for myselft. so I cannot dump it for myselft... hey man, i got to find a way :),

Well, back in the topic, i tried to run it on chaskast 0.2a alpha... i no SEGA logo appeared, just the bios with a spinning disk saying "track 1 0:17", if i select back from the menu and the choose the "play disc" option the bios reset itselft and shows the spinning disc again... that sucks, isn't it? :)

Cid: Yeah, in version 0.2a seems like it's not a self-bootable game, but in version 0.25a it actually boots, i understand for "bootable" a game that show the sega logo and them it plays, if the game shows you the BIOS it's NOT bootable. On this case, my copy shows the SEGA logo, then it just stays there, and nothing happend later... just stays in the sega logo.
I tried with exoskeletor program, and everything goes fine, it creates the new CD and CDI image.. i can mount it on daemon tools, boot the orignal copy and the repacked one, and both of them shows the same problem.... just stay on the SEGA logo
After that i tried the repack procedure on other 3 games that I downloaded, to make sure that I'm doing the thing the right way, and all of them played well, with the nice side effect of having a smaller size on my hard disk :) by removing the dummy files, and all of them played fine after the repacking procedure...
I think it's my 1st_read.bin file, must be corrupted or something... I don't know, I don't think that the image could be corrupted, cause if it were corrupted I wouldn't be able to extract it from the RAR file. Also, when I copy with explorer or MS-DOS the files on the CDI image to the hard disk, all of them copy well, no "Cycle-redundancy error" like on bad dumped images.
Maybe somebody has the same copy that I downloaded, and figured out how to make it work, the unmodified CDI image with the dummy file on it has a CD label which read "GONZO", the size of this 1ST_READ.BIN file is 1,539,136 bytes and the CRC32 of this file is "1AE4F01B", the size of the CDI image on the hard disk is 769,675,483 bytes.

I manage to get the game and it does work. Here is what the Compabilitity List said : "Gigawing: Works fine with the capcom version of the emu"
Therefore in order to play the game you need to turn on "Capcom Hack" :)
Below is a pic of the game. The background seem messed up.
