hey dudes!
I installed project 64 at a friend's computer but it wont work.
at first it didnt accept, that there are plugins in the plugin folder, anyway, he does now.
but when i start the game, he says:
"Direct3d failed to initialize your HAL device, make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with direct3D 6.0"
now, first thing: DirectX-diagnoses just tests direct3d 7,8 and 9.
so: isnt my intel 82815 onboard graphic card compatible with that ?
or what the hell is the problem ?

thanks for help!!!

While almost all Intel-manufactured onboard graphics chips are the last thing you'd ever want in a gaming rig (be that emulation or "regular" PC games) it should still work... but only with the Direct3D6 plugin.

Having said all that, you should really update the graphics chip drivers, as Project64 fails to start Direct3D emulation. Also do you use 32-bit colors on your desktop?

i updated any credible driver!

his damned computer only manages 24 bit...
is 32 bit neccessary?

Change to 16-bit colors and try again. IIRC, Direct3D uses the desktop color depth by default if there aren't any overriding setting in the Direct3D application itself. Also, people using 24-bit color depth seem to be getting this error more often.

ok the errors are gone but the roms dont work well...
the colours are strange and logos and pictures look like big blocks of one single colour (things that you should be able to look trough) ...
if i use a different plugin were i can change the rendering device both is alright but the game is slow as hell...
for example i cant see anything in the menu in Zelda OoT but the blue background and before the horse was white and the moon was a big yellow square xD but the speed is a little faster then... but still not normal... actually still pretty slow...

but at least the errors are gone end the game can be started, thanks for that!^^
