I'm at the moment working on a gd-rom driver for win xp :santa:
i know, some will say it's complete nonesense as GD-ROMS can't be read in
a standard cdr drive:I KNOW :bounce:
but I have had a nice surprise using an old external caddy scsi drive
not that it can read full gd-rom at once but i ve been able to start reading from backward and also from chosen start sector :p
ain't it nice? that more than i ve been able to copy part of the hidden data on original "revolt" gd-rom before my pc crashes. :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:
my trial for the gd-rom driver is based on original WINCE & KATANA device driver identification, adaptation and modifications.... :corpse: it's not stable as it s a first try and i don't even know if it'll be usefull in chanka(would be great!!! :saint: )but it's just a good try
i'll tell U when it's over..... :luck:  :sorcerer: :holiday:

It ain't a dvd rom drive it's an old caddy scsi external drive...
seems to have strange properties....

After reading your post I did a little investigating, I wanted to know exactly how a gdrom works. well this website is very descriptive about the cd controller inside the DC, http://mozcom.com/~sknkwrks/gdcontroller.html

It gives a very interesting prespective on the gd-rom, a decelerated cd-rom!! The data is packed more so that the cd-rom actually reads it at half the speed to achieve the same results as a CD according to that site.

Maybe this will help you .. maybe not, but slowing down the read speed on your scsi drive will help with stability and readability since things are packed more.. but I realy can't see you starting off a device driver creation having your drive read more than 1x .. but who knows .. maybe this'll give you some kind of idea that'll help.

Keep it up, 99.9% of us probably won't be able to use this in any way, but who cares about that.. the day you can read a full gd-rom or heck .. even partially enough to start up a game in chanka I'll be the first to tip my hat :bouncy: , it's always a good day when someone does something that everyone else thought impossible!!

first Thank U very much for supporting me... :p

then i'd like to tell i've also been spending much time on investigation and I know what UR talking about my goal is not yet to read a gd-rom to play it now but to copy it full and then see how i could convert it to work fine on a virtual cd drive first
after that I should dev a compatible device driver and realease a universal firmware to allow the reading of a gd-rom on mister everybody's cdrom drive  :saint:
