Games run a lot slower than before.

Ok well my specs are high enough:

HP Pavillion dv 6000 series laptop
2GB RAM
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 (2CPUs) at 1.9Ghz each
DirectX 10
Integrated GeForce Go 6150 GPU 64MB can be upped to 128MB

So far what I've tried was:
uninstall/reinstall
set it use only one core
installed latest graphic drivers
tried different graphic and audio plugins
set it to the lowest settings

What I don't get is that back in January, the last time I used it, I remember I could play Conker, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark at 60fps with v1.6. Now at most I'll get 40fps with it dipping down to 15fps sometimes. So I tried v1.5 and it only improves about 5fps. So what the heck is wrong with my computer that it can't run these games at full 60fps? My 7 year old desktop can run the games at 60fps but my 9 month old laptop cannot. Please help!

Progressive slowdown over the months? or, all of a sudden?

Just as some items to possibly look at.

Have installed or updated something that's causing the speed issue?

Some sort of spyware or malware?

A little clean up is needed? (toss old cache files, blitz the paging file and rebuild it, scandisk ,defrag)

Vents for the fan and exhaust are clogged with dust and dirt causing the unit to get hotter then need be which is causing it to slow down?

Well I haven't used Project64 in about 5 months so I wouldn't know.

Possibly, I've installed quite a few programs since then.

I did have a virus last week. I got rid of it with Spybot Search and Destroy.

My laptop has gotten warmer and louder since I bought it so maybe.
