Formatting using FAT32

Hi. I'm trying to format a partition on my hard drive using the FAT32 filesystem so i can read/write to it in both windows and linux. However, right at the end of the format, i get an error message that says "Windows was unable to complete the format." This happens every time. I can however format the drive using the NTFS file system. Is there a reason that this is happening. Is there anything i can do to format the partition to FAT32. Thanks alot.

cfdisk /dev/hda
delete your partition
create the partition again
when it asks you for filesystem type choose FAT32
then exit

did that. when i come back into windows it still says the partition type is ntfs.

The only thing i can think of would be to get a windows me floppy bootdisk cause it uses fat 32 . check bootdisk.com if you dont have one , boot from the disk and at the promt type fdisk delete your ntfs partitions , now create new ones .that startup disk can only do fat 32 formats thus you wont have ntfs .
Afaik converting back from ntfs with only xp ,to fat32 doesnt work . you need a fat 32 os or floppy to format your harddisk.
as far as linux goes i dont have a clue .

thanks liteuser. i'll give it a shot. i'm just gonna wait till wednesday though cuz i have got a new ti4200 coming in, so after installing it i'm just gonna do a fresh re-format of both my windows and linux partitions.
