Haven't played it, and given:
1/ it's only supposed to be good fun multiplayer
2/ multiplayer requires GBAs and cables
I'm not going to any time soon.

well it is aimed for children mate like most of the GC games, bit of a shame really

That is one of the most frustrating comments anyone can ever say about a GCN game. Just because a game is made for all ages doesn't make it a "kid's game" Are the Mario games kid's games? If they is, why is it that I see more people over 18 buy those games for themselves than for kids? If you play FF:CC by yourself you can use your GCN controller, yes it isn't nearly as fun with just one person but it can be done. The game really shines as a multiplayer title. I had a guy, in his 30's, come into EB Games and he bought, FF:CC, 2 Platinum GBASP's, 2 GBA GCN link cables, and the guide so him and his buddies could play with him. He has since been in and says he LOVES the game. Oh wait, that couldn't possibly be true since it's a kid's game. -_-

it's a matter of opinion, quite frankly. I owned a gc a year ago, and sold it after about 3months cause the games did not suit me at all apart from the resident evil series. I spose you could class the mario games as aimed for kids, but we still manage to enjoy them cause they are addictive. I have played FF: CC round a friends house, and to be honest I enjoyed it as much as X-2, they didn't really appeal to me, it's a shame really cause FF is my favorite series of games.

Well said. So true. :)

I think FF:CC is just brilliant... and anyone who bitches about how it requires GBA's for multiplayer is just an unlucky bastard whose friends aren't real gamers (everyone should own a GBA by now... for general information, there are 20,000,000 GBA's in peoples' homes in the US... compared to 22,000,000 PS2's - that's VERY close).

I agree with Tag. And to back up the not-just-for-kids argument: I have a classmate who is 27 and loves it. He plays with his buddies and girlfriend all the time.

I've enjoyed playing FFCC far more than I enjoyed Halo or Resident Evil it's just daft, that's why I like it.

Think about it, after a long day at hard work would you really want to sit down and play a game requiring a lot of thought, it depends on your job but I know I certainly can't face Halo/RE after work but FFCC suits me fine, there are times when blowing shit up is far more therapeutic, but that's what SEGA made Orta for ;)

I live in the Uk. Almost all my mates are gamers, almost all have decent PCs, maybe >10 of them have PS2s, >5 have an Xbox, and a few have a GC. Not one of them owns a GBA. I honestly don't know a single person who owns a GBA.

But you see, Tagrineth said that your friends aren't real gamers, and we all know that defying Tagrineth is like defying the voice of god or something.

You are one of the biggest retards I have ever seen anywhere.

I don't have a GBA... :O But I do have a gamecube. Why shouldn't I be able to play a gamecube game the way it was meant to be played without having people come over with GBAs. None of my friends have them. No one I know is a "real gamer". Not everyone wants a million different gaming systems in their house.

You buy a gamecube because you like Nintendo games. Then they do some sneaky marketing tactics and make the connectivity. Which is okay, yay extra features! But then they start making it more and more essential. This is when it gets bad.

It's a horrible marketing tactic... very evil. I'd kick the person who thought of it in the nuts if I saw him/her walking down the street.

You consider owning a GBA as having one of 'a million different gaming systems in your house'?

Handheld != console. They occupy different segments of the market.

Besides that, GBA has a number of very, very good games of its own, and its games generally cost just a bit more than half the standard price of new set-top console games.

Um, you can play FF:CC using your GCN controller, you don't NEED to have a GBA unless you plan on doing multiplayer.

And even the single-player mode can be fun at times.. it just depends if you are full of adult thoughts or children thoughts.

And yes, i usually do speak nonsense :)

I got FFCC just a week ago and played the singleplayer (yes, with the standard GCN controller and yes without a GBA connected for the map thingy...) a bit and its really not that bad, quite the opposite really. I dont own a GBA but looks like i'll have to get one to get the most out of it.

Best thing to do is go to a Cash Converters/Cash Crusaders/Pawn shop and get a 2nd hand GBA for +-$350. Got the GBA-GCN cable with the game so that's settled. And I think I could get at least one of my friends to buy a GBA so that settles that.

And Stezo2k, just because the Mario games aren't filled with blood and gore doesn't mean its kiddies-only games.

My favorite game is still Dr Mario 64. Thanks Rice! But seriously, adult/kid debates are silly, there are good games in every genre. I'd like to thank the original poster, though as starting this debate will ENSURE that I don't buy FFCC as I don't know a single person who owns a GBA. Why bother when the latest cell phones do 2d games so well, and with nothing extra to carry?

Speaking of cell phones, I'm looking to upgrade, anyone got any thoughts?

i got it a day before release :) it didn't meet my high expectations of it (i was waiting for release date since i first heard about it "yay square you fucking asses, finally an FF game for GCN") but then i heard that it was gonna be "different" just like Zelda: WW but i got over that and its a pretty good game, just not as good as i expected
