Feature Request: Preferred Plugins Per Game

One idea I just had that would make a great addition to Mupen64 is the ability to set the preferred plugins for specific games. Maybe one plugin combo works for every game in some operating systems, but in Linux with an NVIDIA card for example, I will use Glide64 (ported by Hacktarux) for things like Mariokart, but Rice's Video Plugin for things like Goldeneye to get the best performance out of it. I usually test my games in every plugin and put in the individual ROM notes which plugins work best with each game. It'd be nice if I could just set a field "use this plugin when playing this game automatically."

Good idea, yes?

Now that's strange. I wonder why the Windows version would have this feature but not the Linux version?

There's no technical reason. The GUI is the part of the application that has to be rewritten on each OS. Nobody has added this feature on the linux version yet.

So the framework is there and just waiting for someone to port the win32 API calls to GTK+?

Well, not really, this feature has to be added to the GTK GUI, there's no need to look at the win32 code. The philosophy to code on these two API are too different to just translate things. It doesn't mean it's hard to add though.
