What's new

fastest emulator/plugin

Hi, I want to play Conker's Bad Fur Day at the fastest speed as possible. My specs should be in my signature. So, what is the best emulator/plugins for CBFD to run as fast as possible? Also, does anyone know a link to where I can find a saved game file for BFD so that you can goto any level you want? See I beat a portion of the game on the real N64 and I just want to continue from a certain spot.
Thanks for any help

I recommend for your setup:

1964 0.8.5 + Jabo's D3D6 1.5.1 + Azimer's Audio 0.30 (old driver)

To start close to where you left off, use these cunning codes in the cheat menu (listed here):

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/n64/code/26885.html

thanks dude, i really hate 1964 but il try :1964:

EDIT: forgot to say, i don't want codes, i want a saved game file, but I think i might as well start a new game :(

Well your system is far too slow for PJ64, plus 1964 runs this rom exactly the same as PJ64, if not better, check out banjo-kazooie for example for a game that runs better :p

You should get Amizer's Audio 0.40Beta2, its a better plugin than 0.30, at least the sound doesn't skip (as you can sync the sound)

Remember, 1964 is the core emulation, its the plugins that make the games playable for you, any audio/video or input problems are not its fault.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sorta new to this N64 emulation thing, and 0.30 audio plugin skips really bad so il try 0.40, thanks again

but does anyone know of a really fast plugin or something for 1964? I still only get around 40-50 fps. I want 60 fps please.

please help again

Although I'm not certain isn't CFBD supported by Glide64, which could very well worth a try....

I know that Jabo's is the best plugin for this game. 1964 works best for games by Rare, so I recommend it for your processor. Conker's BFD is a 512MB cartridge, my computer still runs it a bit slow. For Audio plugin I am not sure, Clemetns is probably right (he usually is), I never really tested Conker BFD with plugins.

I've noticed that I'm not getting very good sound even with Azimers 0.30 or 0.40 its very choppy. I'm gonna try some different sound plugins.

His computer is NOT too slow for PJ64. A 1ghz P3 processor is sufficient for PJ64 w/ default plugins & settings, and with a good video card you can add high resolution, AA, & AF (and framebuffer for that matter.) However, 1964 is probably a better choice for a 733, and is nearly as good as PJ64. I'd be more concerned with playing with the settings to get more speed. Eliminating sound will almost definetely give you 100%, try listening to some music when you play instead...

I have a 900mhz P3 and get full speed with Conker's (55+ vi/s) using PJ64 w/ the default plugins and if any settings are changed, they are in a more resource demanding setting.

actually im getting really good speed (60+) but the problem is the sound is way to skippy, conker's voice isn't that bad but all the others are. And the soun isn't slowing the game down. I'm using the azimer 0.40beta 2

Azimers Audio .40 beta 2 is the best plugin out there, his new .55.1 alpha is good too, but its even worse for Conker BFD than .4 beta2

But nephalim, his CPU is only 733mhz. thats nearly 300mhz slower than 1ghz. My Amd Duron 1.2 Ghz couldn't even run CBFD at full speed in PJ64.

However, my athlon xp 1667mhz is more than sufficient for all playable roms.

silenteye, go to the audio plugin settings and check "Sync game to audio", and then disable the speed limiter if you're using 1964, i've found this improves audio, well at least for me, never hear a skip >:p

As for Glide64, its for 3DFX (A dead company might I add) cards. which are the only ones which support glide, you need to use evoodoo (A glide wrapper -- its not perfect...) to use glide64 as you use a nvidia card.

You're also going to have more problems than someone who uses Windows 2000 or XP as Schibo states that was the aimed operating system platform, and ME is very unstable.

The reason Conker's Bad Fur Day can't run full speed is because
you didn't change the counter factor to 3.
This was tested with an Athlon T-Bird 900 mhz.
