Fastboot or ExoBoot to Selfboot an Original ISO

Which works better for an original ISO? I've tried both on my origianl ISO's and I can't get them to run in chankast even though it appears that all of the game files are within the iso. I'm not getting any error messages, Chankast just locks up after the Dreamcast swirl.

Thanks,
Eric

Could be probably because of the game, the bios or just the rip...
AFAIK exoboot works for nearly all games, never had any probs!

Is it better to use the IP.BIN that comes with FastBoot? I thought that it got overwritten by BinHack, so it shouldn't matter. I made my self a new copy of track03.iso to work with from Jet Grind Radio and noticed that there isn't an IP.BIN in the ISO. Is this the only track I need to work with? The first track has some text files but no IP.BIN and the second track is a raw. Did I screw up if the IP.BIN is missing from JGR?

I replaced the dc_bios.bin and I can now get a loading screen actually in Jet Grind Radio, but that is where it stops. I thought I saw somewhere that I might need to hack more than just the 1ST_READ.BIN, is this accurate or just forum fodder?

Ok, I can't seem to get the Jet Grind Radio or Evil Dead into selfboot images that I can use. I know the Emulator works but I can't get my favorite games to work. :(

[Edit] I attached the loading screen that I get stuck on if anyone can think of anything.

Jet Grind Radio Fast Boot

So I ran the following again ...

binhack with the following inputs 1ST_READ.BIN IP.BIN 0
and
D:\DREAMC~1\backup\test>..\tools\mkisofs -C 0,0 -l -V JET_GRIND_RADIO -o JGR.iso JET_GRIND_RADIO
and
bin2boot JGR.iso

But Chankast still only gets to the loading screen from my previous post and then nothing happens.

Do I neet to do something else to the bin files for Jet Grind Radio to boot? or can anyone provide any info that will help me verify my file inegrity so that I can rule out corruption.

Does it really not work at all when you run it through ExoBoot? That's odd... I wrote a guide on using ExoBoot, so I could link you to it, I suppose =P

Only time I did have a problem with ExoBoot was when I had Kerio Personal Firewall, which one day decided not to let me run any commandline-based apps (which stopped all the apps that ExoBoot uses - MKISOFS etc - from running), or my main web browser (Firefox). Other than that, it works fine, and I've tested it with clean rips of Sonic Adventure and Ready 2 Rumble.

ExoBoot produces images that have the same result.

These tools are simple to use and so I don't get it why it's not working. I wish I has the source code for bin2boot and binhack so I could tweak them and see what they are doing, but beggars cant be choosers I guess.

I've been doing some more searching and I am starting to wonder if it is SP2 that is the monkey wrench in this process. I'll make a backup of all of my stuff and try to roll back to SP1 or failing that wipe my system drive and take a more diligent approach to managing my restore points .... god I hate windows. My linux box never has these issues.

I may buy a drive to be "cruel" to and try out the swap trick to see if I am somehow corrupting my rips with my BBA ...

Thanks for noticing my post!
