Emulator Trouble

Okay, here's my situation. I don't know where to start really so i will start from the beginning...

My brother today was telling me about emulators and ROMs, but it'd been such a long time since he'd messed with them he didn't know much at all. I'm desperate for some actual people to talk to about emulators and how they work because all ive been doing is searching on google and it's pretty undependable for me right now.

So i saw that there was a Gamecube Emulator and i sold my Gamecube about 4 months ago and i thought, "Hey! That would be cool to still be able to play those games!" I downloaded the emulator called Dolphin because i saw that it's ratings were high and it looked alright. I've got it downloaded and its sitting on my desktop, and i've got absolutely no idea how to get games onto or into the emulator to be able to play. Something to do with ISOs or ROMs? Would anyone inform me on what i need to do next to start playing my Gamecube games on my computer since i haven't got my Gamecube anymore?

You need a Gamecube to extract the contents of the game discs.

The only legal ways to get the contents of a disk is in fact via a GameCube, So unless you illegally download them from torrent search sites or something, you'll have to get a hold of an actual gamecube. BTW, do not discuss anything related to how to get ISOs illegally. Some people actually use Bittorrent for legit things, but discussing that here is probably not allowed either, so i'd just google if you don't care about the possible problems you may get from downloading it illegally. Personally, I use bittorrent for Linux DVDs. Especially SuSE beta DVDs, they're only available via bittorrent, for which uTorrent and ktorrent serve me well.

You can't yet. well you can if you have a 64-bit system with a 64-bit OS, but it isn't going to be what you are looking for.

Best to play on your Gamecube for now, nearly all games either don't work or only go ingame. There is no sound on a lot of first party and some third party Nintendo titles due to lack of documentation, a lot of games suffer from graphical issues.

Basically a Gamecube emulator isn't going to provide playable emulation except for a few games which do work somewhat but crash due to incomplete emulation or suffer from graphical issues that prevent the game from being playable or playable through the full game.

Perhaps in a few years Gamecube emulation might be worth it when the emulators might be more developed, for now it's just for the nostalgia and just to see it emulated/ran on a system it wasn't intended for, not for playing games.

You can still try to get the ISO images other ways, like send it to a geek friend with a gamecube, or ask for someone else's that you know.

It´s funny that you say not to discuss anything related how to get ISO´s illegally, and then you mention Bittorrent. It´s like you handed him the world on a silver platter.
