Emulator speed... yes, I have a 64bit OS.

Salutations,

I just downloaded your latest BETA version of your emulator, and I am trying to run Super Smash Bros Melee on it.

Unfortunatly, I get terrible performance, ranging from 3 to 13 fps.

I have a rather good computer, I'm pretty sure the problem doesn't come from here.

Core2Duo 6700E
Geforce 8800GTX
4gb RAM
Vista 64bit

Now I've searched a little on the forum (surprise!) and all I found out about SSMB performance issues was with people having a 32bit OS, and how it runs so well on 64bit, so well in fact, it runs too fast.

...

:(

Anybody have a clue ?

I found the problem...

Silly me.

I didn't activate the Dual Core support and eum... dynarec ? -_-

Well, now it's going fine... TOO FINE.

I'm running at 90 FPS, and the game goes too damn fast ! :D Can I slow it down ?

I read somewhere that increasing graphics quality settings (6xFSAA) helps to slow it down by intentionally adding graphic lag, but with a graphics card that amazing, it may not slow it down as much as the CPU. The result of that is it would look really good but still be too fast. Can't lose.

Different combinations of cpu players and stages with slow-mo special melee will run around normal speed. I get around 60 fps with 1 bot on a highly detailed/active stage, such as Venom or Mute City, or with 3 bots on a neutral detailed/active stage, like Temple or SMB.

I haven't tried raising AA during play, but I think I had a ~10 frame increase after turning it off in SA2:B or some other game.

In my experience, increasing antialiasing is an excellent way to lower a framerate, almost better than raising the screen resolution. Speaking of which, you might try playing dolphin with its window maximized as well.

Yes, I tried playing in 1280x1024 with 4x AA (it crashes at 6x on SSBM). But it doesn't change much in term of speed. It's still too fast !

It's playable... to an extend.. Either I get to play really slow at 4 fps, or run at an extreme speed and run into the pits unwillingly all the time.

I'll wait for a fps limiter. :)

May i ask why a Frame Limiter hasn't been written... or am i going to get flamed to death? :p
I mean, that can't be very hard, now can it?
At least add a VSync option.

I have an ATi card and I know there's a VSync override option in the Catalyst Control Center, but I'm too lazy to install a 64bit OS atm. >_>, but it would be interesting to know if it works with Dolphin.
