emulation too fast

I'm running 0.3 in on slackware 9.1 with a GeForce FX 5600- when I run games with Mupen they run at like 110 fps (which would be good, but the game speed keeps up to the fps). games play about 5 times faster than they should , anyone know how to limit the speed the games run at so they play normally?

any help would be great thanks

usually sound is used to get the correct game speed (every few frames it waits until the audio has finished playing) - this depends on the audio plugin however
have you compiled mupen yourself?
which audio plugin do you use?
