download accelerator

hi, i recently heard about a download accelerator called marketscore. i wanted to know if any of you guys have tried it and if works. i dont want to download it just like that because it cant be removed and it might have some virus. any help will be greatly appreciated

There are but a few (somewhere around 3 to my count) actualy useful "download speeder-upper" and "super duper winderz tweak" programs that actualy work. The majority of them actualy slow your system down, whilst giving you a mental placebo that makes you think your system is faster when it isn't.

download accelarator plus (DAP), works by making mutiple connections to the source file (indeed even searching for alternate locations not just routes). Thus building on the transfer control protocols efficiency.

Be warned though it will hog your download width, and all other downloads will drop to a trickle.

Easiest way to increase network / internet / dsl performance is to logon to speedguide.net and run their TCP IP analyser and then download their TCP IP Optimizer and then play around with the settings until your download / upload speed is maxed. Of course there are more programs that can do this but this combo has increased my dsl performance quite a bit.

Biggest tweak that increase performance is to reduce the percentage of the network bandwith that XP reserves for QoS, or something like that, from 20% to 1%. Check some tweak sites for it, I'm pretty sure www.tweaktown3d.net has a guide for dsl optimization...

just disable QoS, useless protocol in the first place

I'm pretty sure this has been debunked, that the QoS doesn't really "reserve" 20% of your bandwith..but it is useless, anyway.

Marketscore is GREAT!...... If you like spyware. I use Download Accelorator Plus, which also uses a spyware banner but I have software that takes care of that too.

GetRight's banners aren't spyware.

And it isn't just an 'accelerator' but a full-fledged download manager complete with a filebrowser (perfect for FTP).

That crap is generaly useless unless your dialup though. There are only rare exceptions.
