I would like to know if any of you guys is having a slower performance in D3 RoE than in the original game, i got 26.9 FPS in timedemo and after the Expansion i got only 21.7 FPS :bye3: what gave me a very poor ingame performance. if someone knows smth to help, plz share.

You probably will with specs like that mate, i've heard the expansion does demand a little more. It's due to your video card more than anything, it's not very adequate for Doom 3 i'm afraid, try a lower res if you want a higher framerate

A Geforce 5 should be able to run it just fine even if it does demand a little more. People seem to think that to get better speed you need a better video card or a better processor. They tend to ignore the system memory completely. WhiteX, 512MB of system memory is no longer enough for todays games. I can run D3 on my antique system because I have a gig of memory (haven't tried the expansion) and it runs just fine. If my old system can run D3 then your newer system should be able to run the expansion with a little more memory.

At your service, dood!
I ran doom 3 expansion the other day and it ran fine, but I have a lot of ram and a fast graphics card :p

I agree a little bit with all you guys said but the timedemo is the exact same "in rails" demo, showing a part from the pure doom 3, not an expansion part, but the FPS is way lower than before, no tweaks work, i dunno what to do.

OK...I took a look around and found out that my wallet can afford a 128 meg increase, but i think, is it a worthless effort?

Probably not worth the price/performance of adding 128MB. It plays decently for me, about the same as the original does, though I noticed after playing for a long period and accidentally pressing the "windows key" during gameplay it locked up on me and I had to restart...

Don't forget, the 5200s are budget cards, even my old Geforce 3 outperforms them in gaming benchmarks, sorry to be harsh.

I personally would recommend decreasing the resolution to speed up gameplay a bit more if you don't want to buy another graphics card, an extra 128MB of RAM won't help much at all btw, if you wan't to improve memory performance get another 512MB stick (which is the same) and run it in dual channel, this should help doom 3 performance even if it is minute

Lowering the resolution and forcing AA/AF off will improve the performance, as well as using low detail. Your RAM is on the low side for this game but won't be causing a big difference you are seeing, same with processor.

A FX 5200 - which is really a GeForce4 MX with DX9 features (and in fact all FX cards and most Radeons) are not too great for Doom 3, with 10x7 being the maximum playable resolution for these cards. For the FX 5200, 800x600 would be more sensible to get a better frame rate. Any GeForce 6 series card or top-end Radeon is needed if you want a decent resolution with this game with higher FPS.

I am running the game on 640x480, high quality, lowering to normal or low quality gives me no performance gain since the mem size of the board can handle the texture size of the high quality setting, my part supplier is going to sell me 256 meg in 2 payments, that is the best i can do now.
Any thoughts?

Problem solved, it seem s my wife messed up the drivers to play "stolen" and now she confessed it to me, back to 61.77 me performance went to 28 FPS on the timedemo (WOOHOO!!) but the old lady already gave the go for the mem stick, so it sticks.

Can a mod be kind to close this one up?
