Dolphin in Anandtech article

This is pretty cool, I saw at <a href="http://www.anandtech.com/">AnandTech</a> that they used ePSXe to benchmark CPUs and graphics cards today, pretty interesting. Check the top article there, or point your browser to <a href="http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1986">this link</a>.

The benchmark mostly tests ePSXe, but <a href="http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1986&p=12">on page 12</a> they're doing a "just for fun" benchmark with Dolphin and The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. I guess Dolphin is pretty well known after all. :)

I hope people enjoy seeing the result of a few video and cpu benchmarks on running Dolphin and Windwaker ;-)

If anyone's getting more than an average of 4 or 5 fps on the intro, let us know ;-)

I notice that Dolphin performs (comparatively ;)) poorly with the new Intel Prescott.
I am thinking of getting one when I upgrade and I am concerned that this may remain a trend with even updated Dolphin versions.

Would either F|res or Ector care to comment if this benchmark will at all be indicative of future performance with Prescott Cpu's or whether it is just a temporary matter of not optimising to the new architecture?

Well the current line of Prescotts are inferior for the most part to their Northwood counterparts, so this bench isn't that surprising. All the hardware websites I've been to have not recommended the Prescott. It is also clear that the Athlon64 generally performs better than Intel's offerings. Remember that the P4 EE is almost double the cost of an Athlon64 3400+.

Also what the benchmarks show is that graphics cards don't influence the fps as much as the processor. This is a similar situation as N64 emulation.
