Difference between Adaptoid and N64/PSX usb adapter?

I read some notes on the adaptoid and how it doesn't require calibration. Also, that it identifies all the axis of the N64 analog stick or something along those lines. My question is, are both these adapters equal in terms of performance or does the Adaptoid actually outperform? I'd hate to think that because I use the N64/PSX adapter that I'm missing out on some of the precision movement because it doesn't utililize all the axis from the analog stick. Thanks.

The Boom adapters tend to be tempermental with N64 pads. An older pad may not work well, despite the fact that it works fine with the console. I bought a brand new N64 controller and have never had a problem, with precision or otherwise. The only thing you'll really lose with the Boom is mempak and rumble support.

I take it you're talking about the PSX/N64 Adaptor we're selling on eBay?

First off...Price. There's a big difference in price, the Adaptoid is twice as expensive. If you have an original N64 controller it will most likely work fine with the PSX/N64 USB Adaptor. On the other hand, you'll lose out on the mempak and rumble support as Allnatural describes.

Then we have drivers. The Adaptoid have fantastic drivers, the PSX/N64 Adaptoid uses windows default drivers for USB devices.

On the other hand, if you have a PSX as well you can use both your N64 and PSX controller with it, so...depends on what you'll use it for I guess. :)

The Adaptoid also has better overall build quality, which is reflected in the price I suppose. I'm happy with the Boom's I own, but I'll be the first to admit they're cheaply made.

I've got an adaptoid, and I've got a $10 PSX->USB adaptor that I got at Radio Shack.

Yes, build quality shows for certain. And the adaptoid is well worth it.

i should tell you that, though i've never owned an adaptoid, i've never needed to because i am very happy with my $15 psx/n64 usb adapter.

it's not made of stainless steel or anything but is very thick sturdy plastic, and looks totally bad ass.

i recommend jandaman's as a supplier, they were VERY fast.

as a side note, the green n64 controller i have matches the bad ass adapter's semi translucent green case very well.

jamie.
