Finally, changing here and there in the config of the N-Rage input plugin i solve the problem. I change many things, so i don't know exactly whats the problem, but i think is the Rumble options, i change to Ramp Force, but can be anything. I attach the cpf file in case if somebody have this problem.

Yesssss! Problem sorted. Cheers matey!

I downloaded your configurations, and they worked. Your setup (the one with the C-buttons assigned to the wingman buttons, rather than the 2nd stick) was the same as mine, with one exception: My assigns for my [mostly redundant] Digital pad were EXACTLY the same as my Analog stick (Y-Axis,X-Axis), whereas your Digital pad had the Wingman's PoV functions assigned to it.

Maybe my original setup was confusing the subscreen with double-strength inputs for left & right? I must have altered the setup in the past; I happily played MM before the problem.

Thanks again! Now maybe I'll continue playing MM.....!

:D

I'm very happy to hear that I help you out:D

Sneskey in project 64

I really need help!!!!

I'm trying to use the sneskey in the Project64 1.5, but the sneskey shows:
"Bad Thing: Could not spawn external program, path or file name not found"

I just wanted to use my 4-snes joy adapter.............¬¬

I already rechecked the path, so I imagined that maybe the sneskey doesn't want in Win 98 or in Windows-based emulators...

Please, someone help me!!!!!!!!!

SNESKey is an keyboard emulator, so each gamepad must have it's own set of 12 unique key's, so that's 48 unique key's to add too the .ini file :p

Then, PJ84's input plugin must be setup with the same key's that you had added to the .ini.
Note: It will be alot easier if you have SNESKey running when you setup each gamepad, so you can enter each key with each gamepad ;)

Then after you got everything setup to your likeing, time to test it all out, start:
SNESKey first
Then PJ64 with your favorite ROM image

It should work out just fine, if not post back :flowers:
Or you can try DirectPad pro, but I don't know if it work's with a 4 SNES gamepad adapter, but it may.

Note: I always ran SNESKey with a batch file and a .ini file in the emulator's folder (the setting's for each gamepad).

Edit: I forgot to add, I haven't used SNESKey for a loooong time.

Sneskey, again...

Well, directpad didn't work here, I don't know why.

My true hope is the sneskey.

Well, first, My autoexec didn't have the line that the instructions quoted, the one with PATH=.... so I added the following lines in my autoexec:
Set Path=C:\sneskey
C:\sneskey\sneskey.exe
The Sneskey now appears when may PC starts, before windows load.
But I'm not sure if it's running when I test it.

I changed the ini file which came with the sneskey, changed the path, and created a Bat file that command GO in the briefcase where there is the INI and the EXE of Project 64.
cd\
cd emuladores
cd ninten~1
cd projec~1
go
The instructions said that should iniciate the emulator...
But instead, appears this message:
"Bad Thing: Could not spawn external program, path or file name not found"
Please, tell me with I'm doing something wrong...

And Thanks for anwsering my previous post!!!!
:)

OK, I just installed SNESKey on my 75 MHz notebook for a NES EMU, so I made a list of steps for you:

Step 1: Add SNESKey to your path, but you already did that, and you don't need that second line calling for C:\SNESKey\SNESKey.exe.

Step 2: Find out if your LPT address match's the one in the main sneskey.ini (the one in the SNESKey folder), to find it:
Right click My Computer, select Properties, click the Device Manager tab, double click on Ports, double click on ECP Printer Port (LPTx), click on Resources tab, now look at the Input/Output Range, your looking at the last 3 digits of the first part (e.g., mine is 03BC-03BF, so the only number we need in this example is... 3BC), now add your port address to the main SNESKey.ini file on line 5.

Step 3: Copy one of the .ini files from C:\SNESKey\examaples folder to PJ64's folder (2snes.ini may be the best for you ATM), and rename it to sneskey.ini, you just have to edit the program path in the .ini file (the one in your emulator folder, to something like this ProgPath = C:\emuladores\ninten~1\projec~1\project64.exe) for now, you can latter edit it for the rest of your configurations.

Step 4: Run your batch file.

Step 5: If you passed step 4, PJ64 should load, if it does, configure the input plugin with gamepad one and two, if both gamepads can enter keyboard key's, then edit the SNESKey.ini file in PJ64 folder to your liking, but don't forget to add the other 2 controller's!

If it still doesn't work, attach both the main and the settings .ini files here, so I can look them over :flowers:

Amazing, I can"t make this thing work!
It must be something very stupid, that only I can't see...

Let's see...

Well, the Sneskey is in C:\Sneskey;
The emulator in C:\emuladores\nintendo 64\Project64\Project64.exe

The LPT adress seems fine. My joys works in the tests and everything.

Detail: there are 2 Input/Output Range in the configuration, and the sneskey.ini's config it's alike the first Input/Output Range.

The attachments:
SNESKey.txt= it's the MAIN sneskey.ini
sneskey.txt= It's the ini in C:\emuladores\nintendo 64\Project64;

The problem is still the same:
"Bad Thing: Could not spawn external program, path or file name not found"

Thanks again for anwsering!!!! :)

Well, I got bad news, "Attachment not found", you can _______________________

A. Try to re-attach the .ini files
B. eMail me them, I'll send you a PM with my eMail address
C. Past them in your next post

I always forget one thing about most DOS programs, they are picky about Windows long file names, and SNESKey is one of them, so far all I did was edit just the path line from this:
ProgPath = C:\emuladores\nintendo 64\Project64\Project64.exe
to this:
ProgPath = C:\EMULAD~1\NINTEN~1\PROJEC~1\PROJEC~1.exe

It should work now, if not just post back :flowers:
Note: As you can see, this one belongs in Project64's folder ;)

I changed the line and Sneskey now runs the emulator!

But... still no response in the controller configuration... not even in the Notepad the joys works....

the snes.ini? there is nothing to do in it?

I don't have a clue, maybe the sneskey it's not executing when it's runs the emulator...

A test:
After run the batch file, the sneskey should appears in the crtl+alt+del window????

Have you ran any test with any sneskey test programs?
I had a good Windows one I found on the net, I don't know if I still have a copy, but heres a link to a page with a DOS test program.
http://snespad.emulationworld.com/downloads.html

Note: It's the frist one, and I have not uesd this program, so I don't know how this one works, but I'll take a look it.

OK, I just found that Windows SNES test program on both the net and my PC, Click here to download SNESTest for windows

This program is very easy to use, run it and click on config, hardware, then select any of the three parallel port address, click OK, and press any button on gamepad 1, if one of the O's light up, it work's, if not, change the parallel address, and see if it works with that address.

When and if it works, copy that address into the main SNESKey.ini onto line 5.
If it still doesn't work, I can only ask one thing ATM, did you build or buy this adapter?
Because, SNESKey may be waiting for input from the gamepad on the wrong pin, or sending power to the wrong pin's, or maybe even a bad diode.

Let's see..
1- I tested with the /x of sneskey, And Now I tried in the program that you recommended. It works fine. In Mame it also always works. But at the same time that it works in the snestest, it didn't work in the notepad...
2-I made myself. I was reading the text in the DL section of Emulatioinworld:
"Both SNESKey and Direct Pad Pro98 use the same adapter for connecting SNES joypads, (minor differences, but essentially the same.) SNES Pro and Console Cable both use their own unique adapters. SNES Pro uses an adapter similar to the wiring diagram used by SNESKey and Direct Pad Pro98, but uses pins 10 and 13 for joypads 1 and 2, instead of 10 and 12 like the SNESKey wiring diagram shows, so SNES Pro adapters are therefore only compatible for use with 1 SNES joypad, when using software that supports the SNESKey / Direct Pad Pro98 standard."

I just read the instructions in http://snespad.emulationworld.com/howto_guide.html, but now, I'm not sure if this was my guide... Their commands are different from my projects... I will have to open my adap and check it out...

Damn, poor adapter, my friend tortured it!

Ok, I already checked, and it's the same way that in the EMULATIONWORLD.

So, do You think there is something wrong in my adapter??? The Sneskey works with this adapter?
If I need to make changes, the adap will still work in MAME?

OK, now I feel like an idiot , the DOS version of SNESKey only works with DOS programs

I just setup SNESKey (DOS ver) on an old Pentium 75MHz desktop computer of mine running Windows 98SE, I had no luck with testing SNESKey with Notepad, so I edited sneskey.ini that I had put in the Windows folder and change the path from c:\windows\notepad.exe to c:\windows\command\edit.com (the full path to MS Editor), then I ran go.bat from the command directory, SNESKey then opened MS Editor, and now my gamepad passed that test.

Now you maybe thinking, PJ64 is a "Windows" program, not a "DOS" program! Is there any way I can use PJ64 with my 4 pad adapter?

Yes, you can, but not with that version of SNESKey (DOS ver), the version you want to use is the "Win9X beta 3" version (or something like that).

The 9X version of SNESKey does not require you to have "sneskey.ini" files in every program's directroy that you want to use SNESKey with.
So extract SNESKey to c:\sneskey9x, run sneskey9x, click on "File", "Open", go to the "Examples" folder, then open 2snes.ski.
Now you only have to edit the "key's" for each gamepad (I didn't have to edit the path in my test with Notepad), now save it, then click on "File" (again), this time select "Execute SKI file".
Now run PJ64 and try to configure each gamepad, with luck, it should now work.

And no, there is nothing wrong with you adapter.

I almost forgot, here's a link for SNESKey 9X beta 3
http://web.archive.org/web/20000816003001/http://www.csc.tntech.edu/~jbyork/SK9XB3.ZIP
And here's a link to the old site:
http://web.archive.org/web/20000816003001/www.csc.tntech.edu/~jbyork/

Good luck :luck:

Edit: If you still need help, post back :flowers:
