chankast plugins project

Well apart from the hacked release weve not seen any chankast activity for quite some time now (2years?)

chankast utilities have also been quiet

many games run almost perfectly but have errors that make them unplayable.

so my question is, does anyone know of any current WIP or plans for plugins to be developed for chankast which fixes these problems

i know one of the main problems is with chankast not emulating the AICW sound chip properly, and a plugin was been made which emulated this sound chip excelently but only in winamp. there was also another author who was working on sega model 2 emulation (which uses the same chip) that said he was working on the sound and would fix it in the next version of chankast, which of course never surfaced. this would make shenmue 2 and others much more playable.

there are also other minor bugs with other good games that would probably be fixed pretty soon if someone with the knowledge was allowed to work on it.

So if any Chankast devs are reading this (probably not because on one of their profiles it says he hasnt visited this forum for over a year) please will you give others help and permission to finish what youve started, youve done a great job , but why no contact for so long, why cant you just say "we dont want to work on it anymore".

I know a new Dreamcast emulator is being worked on. It's called NullDC.

Chankast's current status and future plan are a big question mark. When something does come up, you'll most likely read it here first. We don't know anymore than you do.

But yeah, NullDC is being worked on.

So there is no way to fix the sound problems?
No.

Besides, the only plugins Chankast has are for the input and the CD. Everything else is hard-coded into the emulator, save the VMS Browser.

seemes like dead didnt saw any news for it since march

you never know, the author could maybe spring it up out of nowhere.

but there was never any forum for it, never any screenshots, maybe the author didnt want to get people worked up again like the icarus project did.

Does any body know of anyone who tested, saw screenshots etc of the emu?

with it only being a few months ago its reasonable to assume that if its not just rumour it may have a release, and the author is just busy at the moment and working on it now and then.

so plugins etc arn't possible unless the chankast source is released?

That's pretty much the gist of it. No further development outside of the input/CD-ROM plugins unless the source is released to the public.

The Force be with you!!!
Maybe it's be great if Garroffi give the source code of Chankast for the public. I known he have not the time for work on his project so maybe someone can make a new release with the source code.
Nobody knows if he want to give them?

I hope it comes out soon. can't wait! I just hope the system requirements aren't that high. I have an athlon xp 2000 processor, chancast runs just fine.
any news about null dc? release date perhaps?

We don't even know IF it's going to be released and you're asking for a release date? Anyway... no news about nullDC apart from the already known stuff. :)
