My spec is (this is a laptop) pentium R 2.66ghz, 386 mb ram, and a radeon 7500, i know its not the greatest comp ever but my desktop is out of commssion. I have heard people using a pentium 4 with a geforce 2 which is comparable to this machine and getting a good 20 - 30 fps, which is all i would want. But when i play Gundam Sidestories the fricking FPS is always around 2-17 fps. Which is slow as hell. THe samething goes for Gundam Dx, which is alittle better with 8-20 fps. Is this normal? is Chankast really taht taxing? .25Alpha came out around 2 years ago which is when i got this laptop so i thought it should be relatively okay. Also for the two games when teh game starts, the menus and the cutscenes all run around 60 fps or 70 fps and when the game starts it starts around 35 fps but drops to 9 fps in like a minute. Thx in advance for anyhelp.

Different games can give you different framerates, regardless of how fast your CPU is. Case in point, DOA 2 runs about half speed while many 2D games give full speed and 3D games at least near full speed.

However, I've never tried any of those Gundam games, so I can't really say anything about those.

It runs full speed most of the time. At least with my specs.

lol mvc2 runs worse than the gundam games. around 3-15 fps in battle with the capcom hack. Quite painful to press a button only to see the attack 2 seconds later. How powerful a pc do i need? and what's bottlenecking my laptop? i seem to have all the required proponents. Can anyone helP?

The Radeon 7500 supports DirectX features only up to DX7, AFAIK. Meaning that all the added features in DX8 and DX9 can't be used, which Chankast needs.

Chankast uses nothing of the DX8 or DX9 feature set. It uses Hardware TnL, which is a DX7 compliancy feature. The Radeon 7500 is a bit slow though, so while things should look good, expect things to run slower.

Chankast is also significantly faster on AMD CPUs than the P4. Going from my P4 3.2C @ 3.7GHz to my new A64 system (in my sig), Chankast speed has more than doubled. Could only pull in about 19FPS in Jet Grind Radio on my old system, now I'm getting about 50fps/30fps (current rate/normal rate), requiring me to up the emulated CPU to ~150ish just to pull it down to normal. ;)

It's rather obvious. Since a GeForce 2MX works fine with Chankast an ATi Radeon 7500 should also work fine.

Heh...I'm one of those 2GHZ, Geforce 2, AMD users and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 runs really well...between 35-60fps during battle. Sonic Adventure runs full-speed 95% of the time too. Code Veronica, while slow in parts, sometimes runs too fast for me.
