Yo. This is my first post, and you guessed it, I need help. Computer is as follows:

1400mhz Pentium IV
16MB ATI Rage 128 video card
128MB ram

I realize the video card isn't fantastic. Anyway, the problem I have is that in a lot of games...Aerogauge, Super Smash Brothers, Zelda OoT, etc...certain text that should be white is black instead. Like, in Super Smash Brothers, the number that shows how hurt a person is is black. In Zelda, the little blue button that shows what action you'll do shows black (unreadable) text instead of white. I managed to fix this one time by switching on the "Change blending if invalid for video card" option, because I figured that a Rage 128 16MB might not work with whatever blending. It worked. I came back a few hours later and tried again, and this time...switching that mode on turns the entire game black. Can't see a thing. So I guess my questions are...(a) what's the deal with that option, (b) is this black text a known issue with ATI Rage cards, and (c) what should I do? :p

Thanks,

Well, in the non-GF world, only the Radeons are known to support enough odd blending modes to make Jabo's D3D work almost as good as on a GF.

Translation : everything other than GF and Radeon can be expected to show lots of extra glitches.

Maybe one day ATI will release R128 drivers that implement all the stuff built in the R128 and DX7 properly but a far more certain and immediate fix would be to get a Radeon 7xxx/8xxx or GF card.
