Its an awesome movie, but you have to pay close attention to recognize the plot. Kinda like the first Mission Impossible movie.

Read the book first - it's a lot more involved than the film, and doesn't quite take as much figuring out. Clarke wrote the book at the same time that Kubrick was making the film, so they've got identical storylines...

As for other Kubrick films, Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is damn fine, as is Barry Lyndon and the very quoteable Full Metal Jacket. I would steer clear of Eyes Wide Shut, but a lot of people seem to like it (was actually Kubrick's most sucessful film... even though he died before it was released).

Enjoy :)

eyes wide shut was quality, but it just was nothing compared to his other films. clockwork was brilliant, i think space odyssey or full metal jacket are the best films of his that ive seen of his. A.I had potential, but just went worse and worse as the film went on, sorta obvious where Speilberg was adding his typical Hollywood cack in...Speilberg and Kubrick was a bad mix...

I really liked A.I., but I don't class it as a Kubrick film - it's just far too different from anything else he's done. Oh, and if anyone has one of those teddy bears, I'm prepared to pay :)

And no, I will not get an avatar ;).

AI's first hour led me believe it would be one of the finest movies ever made. Then the next hours dragged on and ooooooon and its almost like any thought provoking aspects of the first hour had been removed for a happy ending to please the under 5's. but thats just my opinion. great sfx anyway

no ur right. the first hour, was pretty creepy and very kubrick style, and then speilberg takes over completely.
