backwards compatibility

I can't play tetris on my gba if it weren't backwards compitable!
That way it's backwards compitable without a lot of extra cost.
Backwards compitable.
C-o-m-p-a-t-i-b-l-e. I didn't care the first time you wrote "compitable" because I figured it was a typo, but three times in the same thread makes baby Jesus cry.

As for the issue - as far as it's implemented without hurting the console's capabilities, it's a welcome addition.
Although I doubt many PS2 users have played PSX games on their PS2's, as the PS2 doesn't offer visual enhancements for older games.

There is a texture filtering option. Not a huge impact, but it helps.

$50 means nothing to me heh. besides I don't believe backwards compatibility adds that much to the price, possibly $20 would be more realistic.

I don't believe in watching dvds on the computer, either... not as good as the TV.

I have the same view as DuDe about backward compatibility. However, I feel it is impossible to implement it natively without affecting the console's design. I have no problem with emulation software if its not built into the system.

I wouldn't bother speculating. It's all moot given that consoles are largely sold at a loss anyway.

Well if backwards compatibility is not an issue, we would no be seeing the amount of emulators for consoles that we see nowadays, playing a ps1 game on a ps2 is the only way sony sees legality, so for the consoles manufacturers it is better to lose some time to improve the system backwards then to see an smart *ss emulator rob the scene (Cough! VGS. Cough!) i agree that a slot for N64 carts woould be anm excelent idea for the start of the cube, some ppl, me for an example, never played a n64 game before the facilities of PJ64 because we were too busy building up our comps.
In a nutshell my point is that backwards compatibility is good for us and better for the console manufacturers, Oh! and they won´t give you an extra copntroller because they got meanner over the ages.

why not just design the backwards compatiblity as an intergatable add-on at about half the price of the consel it emulates. Then if you have the old system you don't pay the extra money for the consel.

Unfortunaly with or without the added stuff the begining price is still going to be for around $200, always. (Untill they rais the standerd price anyway)

the only problem I see with backwards compatibility is that it means the second hand games market becomes crap as you can't find any decent games from the previous generation

the GBC has some nice games and i got them to play on gba, who has its incredibly good games to be playable on DS.
