Anyone familiar with Enermax power supplies?

I had often seen them praised, but I'm not so happy right now. I've had an issue recently where my CD-ROM drives would suddenly become disconnected. At least, that's the message Windows flashed me on multiple occasions. I suspected a bad IDE cable, and after a swap all seemed well, until a week ago. I was flashed the disconnect message many times one day, but I've not seen it since. Today though, I get a warning that my video card's not receiving sufficient power (GF FX 5900). My vid card happens to share a line with my CD-ROMs.

So it looks like my power supply is bad, and it's only about two, maybe three years old. Add to that my mother's new computer, also using Enermax, and it's been rebooting spontaneously. Are these things junk? Any recommendations? MaximumPC is always praising PC Power & Cooling, but they are pricey.

I have a 480W Prosource PSU that I love, comes with an intake and output cooling fan and has the silencer technology for those like me who like quiet running computers. Supports all processors.

I got an Antec True 430 power supply and I'm getting non of the major symptoms you're getting. There's a high likelyhood that a 350W power supply is not enough,
with the amount of HDDs you have. I suggest to get an Antec True 430 power supply or if an Enermax power supply, an Enermax 431W power supply.

I've been through about 5 PSU's over the last few years (don't ask), the only one which has survived is the enermax. I'd say that 350 isn't enough for your system.

PC Power & Cooling is the best.

They also make just about the best power supply unit you can get. I use their TurboCool 300's in just about every computer that I own (with the exception of an old Gateway GP7i-600SE that I've upgraded - it needed an SFX power supply that PC Power & Cooling only offered in a 180 Watt design - and my server system which uses a TurboCool 475-PFC), and I've never had a problem with any of them.

Don't get the PFC (Power Factor Correction) versions unless you have some pressing need for them. A good UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) will condition your line far better and cost less.
