Am I just completely retarded?

I don't know about all those lucky people out there who can seem to play DC games, but I haven't been able to get a single one to even load.

I'm trying spacechannel5, which shows up in compatibility lists as working.
But when I try to run it, I get nowhere.

1. I mount the image on daemon tools 3.29 (after the heavy agrivation of 4 bsods in the process of replacing 3.47)
2. I open chankast
3. I set the drive to match the virtual drive containing the image of spacechannel5
4. I click start

then:

I see a blue swirl with dreamcast underneath, it asks me to enter the time and date, then asks me do it again, then it goes to the option screen (play, music, etc.) and when I select play, it just goes back to the begginning of this paragraph (ie. I see the blue swirl again and the process repeats).

I've been reading through the forums here all day and tried a bunch of stuff to no avail. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

To clarify what sethc said (what he said is correct), chankast will occasionally (ok, pretty often) corrupt the dcflash.bin file. To fix the issue, you have to replace the file with a working one. Which means you should always keep a backup copy around. To prevent chankast from screwing with it set the read only flag on the file.
