Excellent shots! They are are very, very good. The lighting in post 4's picture of the girl with the jeans and orange shirt is the only thing that detracts from the image. It's a great shot except for the looming shadow behind her. Maybe if you had another light on the lefthand side of the image or reflect the light you had then it'd be really good. Overall, awesome photos.

i think you should try and get some during the sunrise as opposed to sunset
I know at my house the sunrise is usually more scenic

Alright, all very good shots, you might want to learn some filter techniques for the sunsets. It will bring out the landscape without diminishing the sun. As it is, its a color photo with the land all black, you cant see the features that the sunset brings out. As a rule of thumb, taking photos of the sun is difficult. Your very talented at taking pictures of people, I like the one where she isnt looking at the camera, at adds a natural feel to the pose. Taking a photograph is as much about working the camera as it is working the subject. Its the photographer's responsibility to get the model to pose the way he wants. The one with the carriage is a bit troubling, when I look at it I dont see the focus. Theres too much clutter in the shot, if the carriage is the target then the tree detracts the viewer from the focus. Granted, you dont always have a choice in the matter. Hope this helps. If the tree is the target then the camera should have been verticle and zoomed in.

Oh, I forgot about filters. Polarizing filters seem to be a great choice in photographing nature, it gets rid of the glare on stuff(like the reflection on water) and brings out the color. Also, for photographing sunsets, an orange filter can make for some interesting effects.

Filters simply look like clear colored glass that screws in over the lense. Chances are, if you have an SLR camera, it already has a clear filter (also known as a protect lense) on it and you didnt even know it. The clear protect lense is used to keep dust and junk off the lense and prevent scratches but is cheap to repace (a lot cheaper than the lense anyway). Other filters have color on them used to filter certain types of light. I'm sure your aware that light has many colored wavelengths and removing some of these wavelengths is a trick used by photographers to bring out emphasis in less than desireable conditions. Doing a quick web search I found this website

http://www.cameragear.com/cf.asp

which appears to give some basic filter information. If your using a snapshot "point and click" camera (a photographers worst enemy) then there is nothing you can do. Photographers use what is called SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras, which allow for manual focus and replaceable lenses, adjustable aperature and light settings.

Oh and when I said carriage I was talking about the photo with what appears to be a red horse carriage in it.

Oh if you want to have a little fun, I have whats called a 6 star filter. Its a special effects filter that causes light reflection to split into a star shaped formation. Its really neat.

Wow, I looked at that one when I went to buy my camera, but damn that Canon EOS Rebel GII was just calling my name. I never really got to try taking pics with the Olympus but Ive heard they were pretty good.

My camera is from the 70's, it's my dad's old one. :) Still has a hippie strap on it and everything. Manual cameras are so much better than automatic. ><

I agree. I found a Rico 500 G (or is it G 500?) at a 2nd-hand store for $3.00. Mom thinks it to be crap, but listening to the whir on the automatic timer gives me a good feeling inside:)
