0.8.4 cheats?

ok... I got 1964 0.8.4 :1964:, and it seems that the cheats don't work like they do in 0.9.9. I had 0.9.9 last year, and it's plugin support stinks. Currently I'm using 0.8.4 because of the ability to use decent graphhic drivers. The only problem, is that, when trying to use cheats in the games, (Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong...) they don't seem to take affect. I included a screenshot of my cheat wndow for Paper Mario. So.. Does anyone know what you need to do to activate the cheats?

You can use any graphics plugin with 1964 0.9.9 and it's much improved over 0.8.4.
