How are roms made?

What hardware is used? - can the hardware be bought? - it would be so much easyer if i could make my own roms rather than having to dodge porn and spend ages on broken links.

The Doctor v64 is one such piece of hardware. You'll be hard-pressed to find one these days though, and they're quite expensive.

You can still buy the Z64 though, which does the same thing, and backup your games onto zip disks, which can then be read on any PC 100mb zip drive, it's £199 though, more than 3 times the cost of a new n64 with tons of games:plain:

easy

The answer to this question is simple. Buy a Gameshark pro. You need a link (printer extention) cable and hook it up to your PC. Also you need the GSCC utilities which allow you to make a backup of the games you own. Sounds legal to me, but not to Nintendo.

Thats not really a good excuse. We all really check all of the forums, so your question would have been seen by just as many people in the end. Just try to remember that next time :satisfied

So, it is the almighty GameShark that does the file transfer these days... hmm... interesting...

I find it extremely humorous that Nintendo utterly HATES that device, but then again the Evil Wizards always hate anything that can divulge their Magical Secrets.

(The GameShark effectively does just that, though few shark newbies see it...)
