problem with cdi image came with Ip0000.bin HELP!!

I am trying to run a cdi image of Cosmic Smash JAP, and it's driving me crazy!

My system specs are on my signature. Using Win 2k

The image has a 1ST_READ.BIN file, but instead of IP.BIN it has IP0000.BIN.

First, I tried making a self-boot CD using the echelon 2000 method, the one that is explained in the pinned tutorial and btw i've tried this successfully with Soul Caliber. Renamed IP0000.BIN to IP.BIN
RESULT: The CD I burned wasn't recognized and I got the CD Player

So I tried Hex editing the 1ST_READ.BIN file, copying all the data to the FastBoot\Data folder, renaming IP0000.BIN to IP.BIN, copying 1ST_READ.BIN to main FastBoot folder, Hacking the 1ST_READ.BIN & IP.BIN with BINHACK.EXE, then making image.cdi by using b2b_game.bat batch file.
RESULT: I loaded the image in Daemon Tools 3.33 and started Chankast which crashed after displaying the SEGA logo. So I tried Daemon Tools 3.29 and ran Chankast, Chankast does not crash but nothing happens after the SEGA logo.

Getting desperate now.... :( :( :(

Looking through the forum, I read about patching IP.BIN using IPBIN4WIN then adding it to nero image with dci.exe. So I make a nero image CSMASH.NRG, copy IP0000.BIN rename it to IP.BIN, run IPBIN4WIN and patch IP.BIN then use dci.exe to add IP.BIN to CSMASH.NRG. Things look good everything going smoothly don't get any errors!
RESULT: Mount image in Daemon tools. Open drive and get "H:\ is not accessible Incorrect Function"
:ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:

Can anyone help me please? I'm starting to look pathetic after buying the GDROM and not being able to run a game that is compatible with Chankast!

chankast is not yet win2k compatible maybe thats why, i do not know. the reason people are not answering your thread, perhaps because the clearly do not know the solution.

i would have said pls do not make a secondary thread as u have done but thats not my position to do so. well hope someone can answer your question better than i can.

I probably read your post wrong, but I dont think in any of the methods you tried you actually renamed the file back to Ip0000.bin. I cant imagine changing the filename permenantly is the best idea, but then again I dont know if the self boot procedure will work the same if it has a different name.

Just a thought.

About that. Well at least I got a response :p :)

I won't try this again since the responses were of irritated people!

The reason I did this from the beginning is that I was going mad trying to solve this problem and getting nowhere while at the same time getting no input from anybody. Started to get weird paranoid thoughts about people generally disliking me! :saddam:

I haven't tried patching the image and renaming IP.BIN to IP0000.BIN... I'll try it thanks for the input!

wait till the next chankcast release or install windows XP

I hate Windows XP with a passion as half the old PC titles stop working on some PC's, it's too simplistic and it's interface (which isn't that great compared to MAC or Desktop X utility ) has a huge impact on medium PC's.

This was the only instance where I had a problem with Win 2k. Can't believe I got to the point where I wish I had Win XP

Can Anyone run this game? If yes, i believe it's your pc......

Turns out that the problem lies in the ATAPI driver of Windows 2000 and how it can't read cd subcode data...

Found a work around to run this type of image on Windows 2000. Will post solution if next Chankast version isn't released soon
