You know how we always said "screw everything that's not a GeForce or Radeon". Well now there's time to think about these things so we (that's myself and Jabo and anyone else who's interested) would like as many people as possible to tell us which graphics card they actually have on the computer they most often use for Project64.

Each person has ONE vote. If you have more than one graphics card (more than one PC) vote for the one that you use or plan on using with PJ64, NOT whichever card happens to be in the PC you're typing on now! Thanks very much all.

Great idea smiff, we hear lots of people who have problems with different cards (3Dfx, S3, etc) but finding the actual number of people with these cards is invaluable information just as a community of users so we know where we are for our own computers.

Ogy

3Dfx Fanatic.
Gee, Voodoo 5 got only one vote. i wonder who might that person be:lookaway:

YOu only have one GeForce 2 option yet the difference between a Ge2 MX 32mb and a GTS 64mb is night and day.

To Jabo's plugin, the difference is nothing at all. Both have the same capabilities in outputting the same graphics quality.

Yah that is definitely true, every flavor of GeForce2 works the same in terms of hardware capability, the same goes for the GeForce1, TNT1, and all flavors of TNT2's

I should also add i'm glad to see the ATI Radeon and nVidia TNT/GeForce video cards dominating the poll so far, but who knows that might change

You mean compatibility???

Capability wise a 64mb GTS is like a Ford NASCAR and a 32mb MX is a Ford Escort.

I'm just trying to understand you crazy emulation people's vocabulary :)

I'd really like to know if you meant to use the word capable.

EDIT:

BTW, I'd like to say Thank You for your work Jabo. And all you guys that contribute. It's a steep learning curve just to use this stuff, I can't imagine the effort it took to make it.

Erm... We're using Jabo's Direct 3D graphics term here... In that world, there is really no difference. In computer games, there is a HUGE difference. Just need to make that clear ;)

And I think we would all agree, even though the emu is discontinued, Jabo and Zilmar did us all a great favor by releasing this emulator :) (I know, it's been said a 1,000,001 times or so...

Now, come on people, click on what you use PJ64 on the most :)

I didn't really mean it in terms of performance related information. I'm more interested in what a video card can output in a single-pass of rendering (which in my view is the most important thing), Project64 doesn't need a powerful video card, just one with a capable (highly-programmable) chipset like an ATI Radeon or GeForce, which both come in flavors that are less powerful and expensive

Most 3Dfx cards are also highly programmable, but the drivers for Direct3D aren't that great, just a point and case of a fast car with a poor driver (no pun there :D )

Just a note though.

The Geforce 4 MX cards are NOTHING like the normal Geforce 4 boards. They lack the pixel shader capabilities, and the only vertex shader stuff is through a software driver emulation. It's more like a Geforce2. It should be listed separately.

AFAIK the relevant parts of GF4MX's feature set still puts it in the GF3/4 category.

currently about 3/4 GeForce&Radeon... need a lot more results though.

Oh well, when I first bought ATI XPert 2000, I thought it would be good, but I guess it sucks emulation-wise.
