What settings should I have to get the best performance without flickering?

Im having a problem with WWF No Mercy on 1964. When I change a wrestlers outfit and then go to a match it goes back to the default outfit. (I cant use PJ64 because for some strange reason the game has gotten very slow)

whenever i have any rice video plugin set as the default graphic plugin i always get this error, project64 has caused an error in RICEVIDEO.DLL project64 will now close. If you continueto experience problems, try restarting your computer how could i fix this or work my way around it?
