That's stupid and annoying and ineffective.
And I know that games like Zelda uses it like a pointer. But it doesn't need to be used as a pointer.

Working just like a mouse (but in 3 dimensions) for navigation is annoying? hmm...

Moving the controller moves the character. Not some stupid circle and crosshair. You shouldn't have to move to the edge of the screen to turn around. Move the wiimote and your character turns.

I never said that it did have to be used as a pointer, stop jumping to conclusions. Example of how zelda does it, you have the bow out, a transparent circle is on the screen, move the pointer outside the circle and link moves in that direction allowing you to aim at the enemies.

Course back then the screen wasn't flipped but I doubt they'll have changed the bow's functionality.

Another video (showing gameplay of the same demo better)

If you use the thing to turn then you'll find you run out of space very quickly - unless you want to block the sensors or something when you want to return your arm to a neutral position.

If you are using it to turn around etc, then it's not going to be any good at aiming at the same time. Unless you can contort your hand in a variety of ways.

Yes but a mouse can be lifted in order to center it. A Wiimote can't, unless you were to hold a button down.

Every movement you make with that controller, be it swinging an imaginary sword or scratching your arse (not advised) should be picked up. Combining that system with actually aiming would be an annoyance.

But I don't pick up the mouse and put it down to center it. It's my axis - when I move it right, the character turns right. When I move left, my character turns left.
I typically hold that position unless I need to turn - it's natural and easy if the sensitivity is adjusted properly.

You don't need to center the wii remote, just point it at the center of the screen haha. Look at the videos I posted links to and see how zelda's bow works, the camera moves while the pointer is in the circle at the end of the screen and stops when you bring it back,

There is something else that has crossed my mind. Pointing at the screen will give you better accuracy, or will it? Even so, having to put your controller at the end of the screen to rotate is inheritedly flawed.

watch the damn videos i posted and you'll see what i'm talking about rather than replying and jumping to conclusions. I didn't mean that far to the edge of the screen... somewhere within the outer parts... anyway WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO.

I just don't like repeating myself three times and people who can't research things themselves pisses me off... Here's a screenshot from the video, notice the outer circle, move it there and it turns the camera that way, move it back into the centre and it stops.

Screenshots doesn't justify it. I'll reserve judgement until I can actually try it out myself. Though, for now, I'll keep on thinking it is flawed.

Alright fine, don't watch the 2nd video I posted on the last page... because it'll never be used more than eight times for you to see examples of it in motion heh. I'm not the only one whos hasty but at least I know what i'm talking about.

I can see that it looks better if I would simply move the screen and constantly keeping the cursor in the center instead of moving it around and having to go to the outer edges to rotate the view. That's the impression I got from the demo: very clumsy aiming.

Imagine yourself back in 1994 when Sega Saturn was launched. I guess you didn't buy it because it is also able to read musics CDs? And you didn't buy a PS2 because it is able to read DVD? Or even a DVD player that reads MPEG video format/JPEG files? For all that you'd use the proper artifact to use those medias?

If I want my console to play DVDs. then I can pay a little extra to cover those fees that are attached to it. Otherwise, I don't need to. That is something I find a very good thing

Back in the day when the Sega Saturn / PS1 were released I never once used them to play music / photocd's or vcd because I knew they were crap.
First of all you had to find a away to put the media you had on pc and then onto a cdr so that the Sega Saturn / PS1 could read them.
Also the VCD attachments were expensive and the video quality was poor even when compared to VHS.
As for music cd's you gotta be joking, would you rather play cd quality music through your tv or through a Hi-fi the sound quality just doesn't compare unless you have the console connected to ur Hi-fi and even then the Hi-fi most likely already had a cd player.

As for DVD well I tried to use them a couple of times to play DVD's that I bought online a few anime movies here and there, however the experience was bad because I just had problems with the software DVD player that the PS2 had it would not play smoothly.
You could blame the media not being of good quality or whatever but my cheapass 20 quid dvd player in the living room and pc played these movies perfectly.

I tend to find most multimedia capabilities of consoles are quite gimmicky and I've never bought into them. Other than to test if everything works ok.
Sure its a big selling point for a lot of people but comon whats the big deal about Wii not having DVD anyway I got a main dvd player and I don't like playing DVD's on a console due to potential compatability issues because the xbox / ps2 dvd players are software and end up having problems playing some DVD's.
I have my PC hooked upto my HI-fi and tv so I play DVD movies using the computer.

Honestly I don't think its that much of an issue since even around my local area no one uses their consoles to play DVD because those that have , have told me about the problems they have had getting certain DVD's to work and ended up having to buy seperate dvd players anyway and these days they are so cheap why not ?

i am excited about the Wiimote but i will have to play it before the purchase, i think i´ll do the same i did with the DS, i´ll wait one year to grab it.

I'll be purchasing it for the retro gaming potential alone. I mean think about it perfect n64 emulation / snes / nes / sega.

Games for retro consoles aren't exactly easy to find and sometimes you have to pay huge amounts of money to play them

There is emulation, like we're all about here.
Anyway, from what I've read from sources, it appears the N64 games will be crisp - like on the PC! Bad, bad Nintendo! I want to play them exactly as on the N64 hardware - I hate the crispiness. Either I'll have to not play them or get an actual N64 console again and some controllers...
