Starwars rogue sqaudron not working correctly

I downloaded a ROM for starwars rogue squadron. When i tried to use it, it had a screen with copyright info and whatnot with some flickering letters. This faded and a scree appeared that showed only a fraction of the n64 symbol, like only part of the screen was working correctly, except there was no video, and played what sounded like a glitchy version of the music it would normally open with. I have verified the ROM by taking the staep in the Project64 user manuel but it changed nothing. I am relatively nw to emulators and could really use some advise: how do i fix it?

You can't fix it.

The game is not properly emulated, not matter what the emulator or plugins used.

If by "better" you mean a game other than Rogue Squadron, then yes.
