sound problems!

I have Project 64 1.4 and i think its the best n64 emulator.
Graphics runs smoothly and only problem is sound.
sound effects works great alone ,but when there is music too all sounds start crackle. its very irritating and disturbs gameplay very much. How this problem can be fixed?

Sound crackling in N64 emulation usually occurs on lower end CPUs(1ghz and below) because the CPU isn't fast enough to emulate the graphics and sound together. I get the exact same problem with my 1ghz PIII, but I don't get the problem with my Athlon XP, my P4 or my 1.2ghz PIII Tulatin.
