the configuration of my project64 is giving me trouble for example when i play different games like say mortal kombat i can not get my character to kick high are low but blocking punching and all the other buttons seem to work. Does project 64 not support all the buttons for n64?

Of course it does. Apparently you haven't configured the controller plugin.
