I know the game has the bad shadowing, and I know it hasn't been fixed, (I searched, and couldn't find a fix or even a hack for it) and was wondering, is the problem GFX plugin based, or CPU based, and does anyone know how hard it would be to hack the rom to get rid of the shadow entirely?

It's a problem in the plugin, and no, hacking the rom won't get rid of it.
