Need help in Legend Of Zelda OOT with the Hookshot!! Urgent!!

Yeah hi, Ricky first timer, I've acquired the hook shot but there seems to be a bug in the system, when I try to use it no chain comes out, there's only the noise. I'm still in the Sacred Forest Meadow and I need to get to the forest temple but I cant. I've been tryng to use the hookshot, but like I said, no luck. I can see the red dot, and the noise when it shoots out, and the Clank but There is No CHAIN!! I't doesn't hook on to ANYTHING! Please Help!

It can only latch onto certain objects, like the tree branch above the entrance to the Forest Temple. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad ROM.

it can attach to trees, and targets, nothing else but items
