N64 Controller?

I'm new to the basics of emulators, so bear with me

I recently calibrated my N64 controller (it wouldn't go all the way up or down to 100%) and have the N-Rage plugin set for the controller settings as well. I chose the correct buttons on the controller configuration, but here's the problem..

Whatever game I play, OOT for example, I don't move the joystick and the character moves around on their own, not only by themself but in the weird directions. I try to move them but it seems to be moving either the opposite or just everywhere else I move but the way they are moving.

Can this be fixed?

Check the deadzone and sensitivity settings. Also, does Windows detect your N64 controller and adapter properly?

And yes, windows says it registers the controller, it's just that the calibration won't go it 100% no matter what. I'm wondering if that has to do with the characters moving on their own?

If you can't calibrate the controller properly in Windows' Control Panel, then yes, it won't magically work without a hitch in games.
