I was wondering if i needed to use only an adaptoid cable or if i can use other n64 to pc cables? - SM

There are other adapters (the one commonly called "boom" is most popular/common) but the adaptoid is by far the best, though nearly impossible to find now. You should be able to use any adapter with a plugin that supports configuration for gamepads. The adaptoid plugin would only work with an adaptoid, i imagine.
