how do i choose a character on ssb?

im at the character selction menu on ssb, and it lets me move the cursor hand thing, i press enter to select my character, but it wont select it, it just makes that buzzer sound, how do i let it let me choose a character?

You use the A button to pick up/put down the little '1P' token thing, i.e. to select your character. You don't use the 'Start' button to do it, if you try you get the error sound. So I assume you have 'enter' mapped to 'start', use the key you have mapped to the A button instead.

And btw it's Options>Configure controller plugin to see and edit which real buttons you have mapped to which N64 controller buttons.
