G400 problem!

Shing

Unicorn
My G400 display card crashs when I press "start".
I can't enter the BIOS screen.
Do anyone know the reason?
Is there any driver to fix it?
Can I use 3DAnalyzer to avoid this problem?

heh, so the computer doesn't even boot?

Since you have a G400 I'm willing to bet that your motherboard might use jumpers to set the FSB and clock multipliers, if your FSB(front side bus) is set too high it can cause the AGP to be at too high of a clock speed thus causing it to crash...

If you just mean the the image on the screen freezes, that could also be the system RAM not liking the speed it's running at, make sure it's rated for the FSB you are using

Basically, I'd check to make sure it's running at the proper FSB for your motherboard and ram, there are many other possibilities as well, it would probably be wise to post your system specs and a more detailed account of what happens

I think Shing means that his g400 equipped PC won't boot into the SEGA DC's BIOS using Chankast. Though it is somewhat ambiguous. Let's wait for his feedback....Meanwhile Beck is playong "loser" on my TV...."Soooooooo Oh hit the dooor...I'm a loser baby so why donchya kill meeeeee?" :p

Yeah I think the G400 came out around 1973 or something.

lol, the last g400 (millenium) was released in the end 1999... but it's certainly not enough for chankast...

Ever heard of Matrox? The G400 is one of their older cards. It has no T&L.

Oh matrox ,damn are they still on business?

Last thing I remember is the fish demo.

Hey!

I checked the reason by using 3DAnalyizer.
The G400 card cannot work rendering.
It is still be possible to run Chankast in wireframe mode.
But the frame rate is same as my onbroad S3 card.
Useless G400 anyway!

Hi,

Forget about the G400.
Even my Parhelia won't work with Chanka!

It is a driver issue for Parhelia, a hardware issue for G400.
But Matrox don't care about emulators so they won't change it (I asked on the official forums).

I had to buy a cheap PCI 9200 (which IS much slower than my Parhelia, by the way) to use Chanka...

Thanks for your concern!
Actually, I have another PC which can run Chankast smoothly.

But I checked that G400 can still run Chankast in Wireframe mode.
The speed was even slower than my onbroad S3savageDDR.
