how do i use/config a gamepad for the emulator(specificaly xbox360)

Go to "options", click "configure controller plugins". Click on box to detect controller. Move "deadzone" slider to 100%(try different numbers-anything over 50%). Then in other the boxes(Analog, digital,etc) click on the little squares(they'll turn blue) and press the buttons on your controller to assign them there.

Setting the deadzone to 100% will make the stick not work. Setting it too high (over 30%) will make the stick not respond properly.
Sometimes, with certain controllers, the plugin will detect an input from the analog stick(s) at all times, making it impossible to configure the other buttons.Temporarily turning up the deadzone solves that.
